Once

Matt and I watched the movie Once about a couple of months ago and I haven't been able to get it out of my head. It is a lovely little independent movie that deals with music, love and inspiration and was really beautifully shot. It is about meeting that person that inspires you to do more. This movie has a lot of music but is more than a musical. Confusing, right? What I mean by that is that the two main characters are musicians so we get to hear a lot of thier music but it's not a traditional musical where we hear the characters sing responses to each other which can get annoying. The way the music appears in this movie is really natural.

Speaking of the music in this movie, I have to say I loved it. About three weeks ago, Matt bought me the soundrack and I can't get enough of it. I have to admit, I'm a little obsessed with the soundtrack right now. It has beautiful songs such as the Oscar winning "Falling Slowly", which I must say, it was awesome to see them win. (Gotta love an Irish lad who says "Tanks!". I know he wasn't going for a joke there but it still made me laugh.) That isn't the only great song on the CD. The whole soundrack is a keeper. Some of my other favorites are "Lies", "If You Want Me", "Leave", "Say It To Me Now" and my personal favorite "You Must Have Fallen From the Sky".

On April 10th, Thursday's Are Right Again.

I just saw this promo of the upcoming season and had to post it. I know what you're thinking, "Ugh, more Office stuff". It's my blog so suck it.

This is all just footage of their first days back filming and it makes me extremely happy inside to know they are back filming the show. Also, I just read a spoiler that made me giddy beyond belief. It has nothing to do with Jim and Pam or anything like that but it's something that makes this basketball girl's heart very happy. (Shannon, I know you are just getting into The Office this season and you haven't seen the "Basketball" episode from season one, which you really need to watch because it's funny, but this casting side for an upcoming episode that I just read is right up our alley.)

Learning to Walk

So, Matt's been really into hiking the past couple of years and he's decided that he wants to take the dogs with him. He is scared that the rugged terrain will cut their little paws so he researched doggie shoes (yes, this shiz really exists) and he finally found some he liked and he thought would work well with hiking. This is what the shoes look like:
In theory, once you put them on your buddy, the dog should look as happy as this one:
In reality, the shoes bug the crap out of your dog and they can barely walk in them. I guess it takes some time for them to get used to the shoes. The first time Matt put the shoes on Daisy, I was at work, so Matt recorded it for me so I could see it when I got home. Now, I think I should say that I don't want to put them on her anymore because you can tell she doesn't like them, but I am posting the video because it was quite funny. It reminds me of those videos on the Discovery Channel that show newborn giraffes and cows learning how to walk. Enjoy!

Semi-Pro

Matt and I just got home from a pre-screening of Semi-Pro. You all know I love basketball so there's no way I was going to be missing this movie. Also, it's a Will Ferrell movie so win-win! It was a hilarious take at basketball in the '70s. It's not my favorite Ferrell movie but I did laugh in many of the scenes. I loved the cast as well: Will Ferrell, Andre 3000, David Koechner, Woody Harrelson, the guy who played Ben Franklin on The Office, Andy Richter, and Will Arnett (I love everything about the way he chooses to be). I loved the little cameos from Tim Meadows, Kristin Wiig, Jason Sudeikis and I was uberly surprised to see my BFF Ed Helms in there. I don't want to give away any of the laughs but if you guys are on the fence about watching it, I think you should climb that fence and definitely check it out.

I'm F$%king Who?

Ok, guys. Remember, I told you about Sarah Silverman's video "I'm f$%king Matt Damon." I know I told you guys I was going to email it to you but I forgot. Anyways, this is from Jimmy Kimmel's tv show's anniversary and she came on the show and played this video for him. It was pretty hilarious because as we know, Jimmy Kimmel has this running joke on the show where he always cuts off Matt Damon whenever he comes on the show. Well, in order to get payback, Matt Damon and Sarah Silverman (Jimmy Kimmel's girlfriend) made this hilariously awesome video. (My favorite part is the hip-hop part). Trust me, this video is funny:

That video has made it's round on youtube and has been watched something like 8 million times. Well, last night was Jimmy's big Oscars show and well he got his payback. He showed a video called "I'm f$%king Ben Affleck." I must admit Matt Damon's was funnier but this one is classic as well. Gotta love the shirt Ben Affleck is wearing. Also, we get some classic appearances from Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Don Cheadle, Harrison Ford, Charlie from Lost and many others. Enjoy!

Sooo, what do you think?

Ridititidoo!

What did I do the other weekend? Oh, I don’t know, just drove down to LA, hung out with Matt’s brother…oh and we met Ed Helms! Matt and I scored some tickets to see him at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade (UCB) Theatre (think Groudlings, Second City and that’s what UCB is). Ed has a talk show there every month with his fellow improv bro Seth Morris (Curb Your Enthusiasm).

Let me start off by telling you that the UCB Theatre is literally right across the street from the Scientology Celebrity Center, Intl. That place is huge…HUGE! It reminded me of one of those castles in those old vampire movies. They were having a shindig there and let me tell you that those Scientologists know how to partay cause they were blasting the music. (Ain’t no partay like my nana’s tea partay!) I wonder if Tom and Katie were in there busting a move alongside Xenu.

We had to stand out in the rain for about 40 minutes before they were letting people in to the show. When we got in, we were able to sit in the front row. The venue was really small (maybe 100-150 people) so that was nice. The format of the show is kind of weird and interesting. Their show is called “The Seth and Ed Puppet Talk Show”. Yeah, you heard right, puppets. I was kind of weary of this before hand but was pleasantly surprised at how funny it was. The way it worked was that Seth and Ed had two puppets and they talked not like puppets but as themselves. They joked around for a good fifteen minutes or so about various things such as global warming (or whorming as they called it), scientologists, crazy Tom Cruise, Fools Gold (you know, the horrible movie by Kate Hudson and Matt McConaughey), scribblings found on public bathroom walls, and I can’t even remember what else.

They had a couple of celebrity comedians come in and do stand up and then when they got done the comedians would go sit with them and talk…with the puppets. The comedians that went up were Matt Walsh founder of the UCB theatre and then Thomas Lennon (aka Lieutenant Jim Dangle on Reno 911!) Both were really funny and then they got paired with Ed and Seth and well, it just got funnier. I have to mention that while we were there to primarily see Ed Helms (nailed it!), we were pleasantly surprised by Seth Morris. He was really funny and had some good comebacks and one liners.

When the show was over, they all left the stage and everyone started filing out. I really had to pee, so I stood in the long line for the ladies room while Matt waited in the lobby of the theatre. As the line got shorter and shorter, I noticed Ed Helms came back out to get some stuff of off the stage. A couple of girls went up to talk to him and that’s when I said, “Screw the bathroom” (not literally) and went to the lobby to go get Matt. When we got back Ed was still there so we went up and introduced ourselves to him. He was way taller than I had imagined him to be (and to be honest, he was a lot cuter too). So adorable! We told him we drove up from Phoenix, and he just kept saying “Wow, I hope the show didn’t suck”. He was so funny and charming. We talked a little bit about The Office and I am totally spacing on what else we talked about. His friend came over to where we were and Ed introduced us (by name, which he rememebered!) to his friend who then talked to us and Ed for a little while. It was just really cool and he was a great, funny guy. Another reason why I adore this cast! Oh, and he smelled like what I think Pierce Brosnan smells like.

P.S. We hit up the Palm Springs outlets on the way back. Major damage done to my bank account by Coach and BCBG Max Azria…but I’ll tell you guys about that in another blog. We also hit up 3rd Street to do some shopping and man, there were a ton of performers on the streets and their buckets were full of cash. I think Matt, his brother and I are going to quit our day jobs and do that instead. Matt and Lee can perform with their mad Rock Band and Guitar Hero skills and I can do the dancing. Maybe some break dancing. I just have to remember it's pop-and-lock not pop-and-dangle.

What's that word we made up for when we have a song stuck in our head? Anyway, I have a song stuck in my head.

I've had this song stuck in my head for the past four days. I just can't get it out. Just when I think I've forgotten it, Matt goes and sings it. On most ocassions, I hate when I have songs stuck in my head but this one makes me laugh, so it's no biggie. I kept thinking about it this morning, so I looked it up on youtube and well I'm posting it for you guys to watch.

Oh and I'm only posting this other one because I one day strive to be a rhymenocerous.

Now, I can't stop. Damn you youtube and your accessible videos right at my fingertips. Here goes another song I had in my head for like a week right after New Years. Just when Jemaine and Bret make you laugh they go and get you with some touchy shizz...funny but still touchy.

Brown paper, white paper, put it together with the tape, the tape of love...the sticky stuff. I love watching Jemaine. He just makes me laugh so much. If you don't have season 1 of Flight of the Conchords then you need to get it.
