The time has come for another one of Matt’s “Let’s get pumped and run another marathon” phases that he goes through. This consists of him trying to get any and everyone to run in a marathon or half marathon with him. This time he was able to trick, er convince his brothers to run with him. He tried to get me to do join but he got the same response he always gets from me: Hell to the, Hell to the, Hell to the, Heeeeeeeellllll to the NO!

After months of slacking, er training, it was time for the guys to finally strut their stuff in the San Jose Half Marathon. Tima and I made sure we got to the race early. I didn’t want a repeat of what happened in Matt’s San Diego Marathon. I still get shit from him for not getting to the finish line by the time he finished. Since we got there early, we were able to get a good position at the finish line to wait for them. The only bad side to this was that this one female runner puked right in front of us just before she crossed the finish line. It was straight out of The Office. Remember when Michael carbo-loaded right before his Fun Run and puked at the finish line? Yeah, we re-lived that at the marathon. So gross! Anyways, here go some pics of the marathon:

After the marathon, Matt and I headed off to San Francisco for the day. Our other alternative was to go watch the Cowboys play on tv. Bleah! I’d rather hit myself in the head with a hammer. (Sorry, Andrea, and all other Cowboy fans, but we have to agree to disagree. And your taste in football teams is what is wrong with this world….and the Cowboy’s are the devil’s butthole).

We got to Fisherman’s Wharf in about 45 minutes or so but parking was caaaraaazy! It was nice out. We took a boat tour that took us to the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The Golden Gate Bridge was beautiful BUT I don’t know what it was about that place but the closer the boat got to the bridge, the colder it got. Seriously, I thought I was going to die…on boat day. It was so weird, but as soon as we started to sail away towards Alcatraz the coldness and numbness went away.

Golden Gate Bridge

After the boat tour, we ate at this nice restaurant on the wharf and walked around a little bit. We were very entertained by this guy we call “Bush Man”. I know that sounds so wrong but it really isn’t. “Bush Man” is this guy who basically has a couple of bushes that he hides behind and as people walk by, he jumps out and scares you. He has a tip jar for this. I am being so serious. This is very funny if it’s not you he’s scaring. He did this to Matt and I as we were walking by. Matt jumped a little, but me, well let’s just say I had to put some money into the swear jar for this one. I let out a huge F-bomb! After you get over the fact that you almost crapped your pants, its fun to stand along the sidelines and watch the next sucker come along. We didn't stay in SF too long after that because we had to get the car back but we had a good time!

A guy goes to a five dollar... lady of the night and he gets crabs. So, the next day he goes back to complain. And the woman says "Hey. It was only five dollars. What did you expect? Lobster?"

Go, Hogan, Go!

You know how Forrest Gump just ran and ran and had nowhere to go but he still kept running? Well, now imagine a dog paddling on and on with nowhere to go and you will be imagining our Hogan. Everytime Matt and I give Hogan a bath, we always crack up so we figured we'd record it and put it up for you guys to laugh at. It never gets old. There doesn't have to be any water but once you bring Hogan anywhere near the bathtub, he starts paddling his feet. (Can you hear Mya in the background crying? She is having a fit because we are paying attention to Hogan and not her). Enjoy!

Snap Yo! Fall TV Season is Here!

I cannot express how excited I am for the fall tv season to be here. Gone are the dreary summer days of watching or ignoring shows like Big Brother. Frankly, I really don’t know what else was on tv this summer. That being said, I did use this summer to catch up on some great shows like 24 and Friday Night Lights and re-watch a certain other show which just happens to be the best show on tv but I’ll leave it at that.

Let me start by telling you guys which NEW shows I am looking forward to. I don’t know if you guys have heard about Chuck yet but I was really excited to watch this show. I have heard great things about this show over the summer from different tv bloggers that got to watch the pilot many months ago. Matt and I watched it last night and we really enjoyed it. The show was pretty fab and full of witty moments and action sequences. I really liked the character of Chuck as he reminded me of a mixture of Seth Cohen and Jim Halpert, two of my most favorite characters on tv, which is probably what made him so adorbs to me. Some have compared it as Alias meets The Office. I don’t know about all that but I do know that it was funny and I will definitely be tuning in next week.

Other NEW shows I am anticipating are: Private Practice, Bionic Woman and the one I want to watch the most is Pushing Daisies. I haven’t seen any of these pilots yet, so I really can’t wait!

I know, I know you all must think I’m patheticville for getting so excited over something like tv but I am REALLY excited for my returning shows. We watched Heroes last night and it was great. Not many questions were answered but the premiere sure was a million times better than the finale. Oh, have I mentioned that I hated the finale? No? Okay, well I did. I decided to give this show another shot based on the otherwise great freshman season. So here’s hoping we get a great payoff at the end of the season. (I wish I was a hero. You know who’s a real hero? Hiro from Heroes. He’s a real hero.)

Now my most squee-worthy show that is coming back on: The Office. I could say so so much about this show and ramble on and on about how great it is but I won’t. You guys hear me say it all the time. I will say that I have watched about six minutes of the premiere that came out yesterday and based on that, the premiere is going to be HILARIOUS and FANTABULOUS! Did I have any doubts? Not really. Greg Daniels wrote the premiere and well, that’s Greg Daniels. Yup, the same Greg Daniels that just a week ago won an Emmy for best writing in a comedy for The Office (although all of the writers are really really good at what they do. I am a huge fan of the writers, you might even call me a writer’s groupie. Ah, to be a fly on the wall in the writers room…one of my dreams. Ok back to the blog). Anyways, one-hour season premiere this Thursday at 8pm Phoenix time. Am I excited? Yes! Am I very excited? Yes! Extremely excited? No. Oh, only very? That’s cool too. Psyche! I am EXTREMELY excited!

Other RETURNING shows I am looking forward to: Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, Scrubs, Friday Night Lights.

Today I was going through a report and I was using my cheap highlighter, provided by yours truly, Boeing. I realized that my highlighter says EF on it. I got a kick out of that, thought you would too.

An Evening with Craig Robinson a.k.a. Darryl Philbin

Eunice, Matt and I attended Craig Robinson’s show last Thursday at the Tempe Improv and we were lucky enough to score front row seats. Craig’s act consisted of him singing and playing his famous synthesizer. His show allowed for a ton of audience participation so a lot of his act was improvised. It’s amazing how he can incorporate “take your panties off” into any song so seamlessly, needless to say he had the whole room laughing and singing along.

At one point in the show, we got a special treat because he asked his older brother to come up onstage with him to perform. His brother was sitting in the audience and you could tell that he didn’t expect to be called up. He sang, “You Make Me Feel Brand New” by the Stylistics and man o man did he have pipes. He couldn’t just sing, he could sang!

After the show, Craig went to the bar area and signed autographs and took pictures with fans. We waited to be last in line so we could have a chance to chit-chat with Craig. He was such a sweet guy and so down to earth. He was very appreciative of all of The Office fans and said he was really lucky to be on such a great show. We talked a little bit about Paley and how crazy it was when everyone went up to the stage for autographs/pictures. We didn’t get a chance to talk to him there, so this was a treat. We also mentioned meeting a few people from the cast there and for one reason or another we got on the topic of Phyllis and how she was the biggest sweetheart when we met her, he also mentioned how much he loved her and how great of a person she was. We asked him if he was going to the Emmys and he said he was and that he was very excited because it was his first time going. He asked us to keep our fingers crossed for them to win.

Don’t worry Craig. You’ll probably hear us screaming all the way in LA when you DO win.
